FEATURES AND CHARACTERISTICS
SJV DUCTILE IRON SLUICE VALVE AND GATE VALVE DESIGN FEATURES AND CHARACTERISTICS
SJV Ductile Iron (Fusion Bonded Expoxy Coated) Sluice Valve and Gate Valve are confirmed to
BS 5163 : 1986 Type A Valve standard requirement.
They are designed to isolate the system's fluids and are being installed for plants, piping, pumping
operational requirements and maintenance purposes.
The SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve are commonly and widely used in the following applications

BODY DESIGN/ MATERIAL
The body, bonnet, wedge gate, key cap and hadnwheel are made of ductile iron. The body design
provide a smooth flowing passage. They therefore allow optimum flow and has characteristics
pertaining to full fluid flow. The resilient seated design guarantees perfect water suspension.
Due to the absence of any groove at the bottom of the valve, no sediment or fluid will be
collected. Hence, rusting will not take place. This will further ensure a longer lifespan of the valve.
EPOXY COATING OF VALVES
In considering the seriousness of corrosion due to water, effluent, sea water constituents in the
atmosphere and corrosion due to soil and in the wide areas of the chemical industry.
The bodies, bonnets, key caps and handwheels of the SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve are being
Protected with fusion bonded epoxy which is electrostatically applied epoxy resin coated
tyep on both internal and external surface. This superior coating process offers good corrosion
resistance and long operational life.
BONNET DESIGN
The unique counter boring bonnet design allows the body and bonnet with unexposed bolt head
and protruded bolt threads and nuts.
All SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve bolting material and made of stainless steel. This provides
corrosion - free and long lasting usage.
STEM DESIGN
Inside screw, non-rising type, true shaft stainless steel one piece stem design.
The stem thread length that is designed is fufficiently long so as to ensure tha the stem nut thread
are fully engaged at all times. The wedge gate can also be fully raised to allow full passage flow of
fluid through the valve.
THE WEDGE DESIGN/ MATERIALS
In considering the design of wedge, materials of the highest quality and suitability are employed.
The soft sealing design is being used as well.
SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve use EPDM rubber compound materials for their resilient EPDM
wedge because of its characteristics. The EPDM resilient wedges are strongly resistant to the
followings
* Ozone
* Weathering
* Oxidation
* Water absorption
- The usage of ductile iron for the wedge gate allows it to withstand higher pressure and provides
it with high tensile strength
- The SJV resilient wedge design comes with double sealing points.
These sealing points provide absolute water tightness when the valve are at their fully close positions.
It's trouble-free when it comes to pumps, equipment and plant maintenance.
- A replaceable (one piece) broze / gunmetal stem nuts is being desinged for each SJV Sluice Valve
and Gate Valve as per BS 5163 : 1986 specifications and requirements. The replaceable stem nut
provides stronger stem operating strength and less cost maintenance.
- The wedge gate is being guided by the valve body design. It provides accurate closing point
and stronger wedge performance.
DIRECTION OF CLOSURE
All SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve are colsoed in clockwise direction. SJV Sluice Valve and
Gate Valve that close in the anti-clockwise direction are also available.
The closing direction of the wedge is being marked using an arrow on each Valve's bonnet nut for
easy identifications during plant/system operation.
ACTUATION
All SJV Sluice Valve come with key cap operation and Gate Valve come with handwheel operation.
Alternative options available for SJV Sluice Valve and Gate Valve include those with bevel gear
actuation, T-key operation and extension spindle for underground installation and electric actuator.
